How Can I Help You?
As your MP, I have responsibility for representing the interests of the people of the Forest of Dean in Parliament. It is my role to deal with matters on behalf of constituents that relate to central Government, such as tax, health, foreign policy or transport, as well as legislation currently going through Parliament.
In addition, as the minister for political and constitutional reform, I have direct responsibility for helping to restore public trust in politics.
Locally, the District/Borough and County Councils are responsible for a wide range of issues from housing to planning. Therefore, there are a number of issues that are outside of my jurisdiction, but are under the direct responsibility of District/Borough and County Councillors. If you have a query or issue about a council service, you should, in the first instance, seek the advice and support of your local councillor.
The County Council provides services including:
• Education
• Environment (archaeology, roads, planning, minerals, waste, travel and transport)
• Social Care services
• Fire And Rescue
• Trading Standards
• Libraries and Information
• County Record Office
If you have any queries on these issues, please contact Gloucestershire County Council, a link to which can be found here.
The Forest of Dean District Council and Tewkesbury Borough Council provide services including:
• Benefits - Housing and Council Tax
• Burials and Cremations
• Car Parking
• Concessionary Travel
• Council Tax - Administration and Collection
• Housing
• Licensing e.g. Taxis, Caravan Sites
• Planning, including planning permissions, advice and appeals
• Refuse Collection and Recycling
If you have any queries on these issues, please contact the Forest of Dean District Council or Tewkesbury Borough Council, links to which are
http://www.fdean.gov.uk or http://www.tewkesburybc.gov.uk.
You can find out who your local councillors are at www.writetothem.com and, should your query be related to the issues listed above, you should contact your councillor directly as they are best placed to deal with these matters.
